Not All Orchids & Butterflies

No, not all parts

of my new life here

are orchids and butterflies—

wouldn’t be that way anywhere

But in Mexico,

living full-time

as a legalized permanent resident

and all the promise

and commitment

and responsibility
and long-termness that

that brings

has its moments

that’s for sure…

Life

has its moments

for sure…

they just somehow

seem to have different

edges, and dimensions

here—

some obvious and in your face,

others

subtle and submerged in the color and rhythm of the culture….
