Outside the edges of our comfort zone…
Viva Mexico!
No house water,
no electricity,
no internet—
all at the same time…
rain running
down the inside stairs of our house
out through the front door—
interesting design feature for sure
Camping isn’t so bad,
when you are mentally
and physically
prepared for it
‘Roughing it’ can be an adventure
when welcomed
and anticipated…
But when it sneaks up upon you
 |
3 a.m. floor cleaning! |
in the middle of the night
or any time really—
It can be a bit, well…
Unwelcomed
I think of people
and communities
that have weathered
the tragedies
and hardships and
losses from natural disasters
and it is sobering
to imagine the
trials endured
and perhaps
succumbed to
We are such creatures of convenience
and habit
of ready-made
ready-to-go
everything,
of push a button
and George Jettson
pops it out to you
on a silver platter
We are a race of
mass consumption
and ‘other-reliance’
We are creatures of habit, sometimes
conformity
and most always, comfort.
We O’Gradys are a bit outside the edges
of our comfort zone right now,
what with rain running down
inside our house
creating its own path
from the terraza
down the stairs,
and out the front door…
But we are all of good health,
safe, unified together as a family,
and so I will give
thanks for that,
while I ‘patiently’ hope and wait
for the water and lights to come back on
and for the rain to back off
long enough for us to get some sand bags…
